Part 1
Put Lumi on the phone
This is the app that makes your home screen simple.
- Open the Google Play Store.
It is the app with the coloured triangle.
- Search for Lumi and tap Install.
Wait for it to finish. It takes about a minute.
- Open Lumi.
It will ask you to accept the Terms and the Privacy Policy. Tap to read them if you would like, then accept.
- Type the name of the person this phone is for.
Lumi uses it to say good morning to you by name.
- Add the people to call in an emergency.
These are the people Lumi texts if you ever press the red SOS button.
- Write down the 6 digit code Lumi shows you.
Your family member needs it in Part 4. Keep it somewhere safe.
Part 2
Make Lumi your home screen
This is the step that makes everything big and simple. Without it, Lumi is just another app.
- Open Lumi.
Near the top you will see a green box that says "Finish setting up Lumi".
- Tap the green box.
- Your phone asks "Set Lumi as your default home app?"
Tap the circle next to Lumi, then tap Set as default.
- Press the Home button at the bottom of your phone.
You should now see Lumi's large buttons. That is your home screen from now on.
You can always undo this
Go to Settings inside Lumi and tap "Lumi as my home screen". Nothing is deleted, and no photos,
contacts or messages are ever lost.
If the green box is not there
That means Lumi is already your home screen, and there is nothing more to do in this part.
Part 3
Add Lumi Line for calls and texts
This is the second app. It makes calling and texting simple, and it warns you about scam messages.
- Open the Google Play Store again.
- Search for Lumi Line and tap Install.
- Open Lumi Line.
You will see a box that says Finish setup.
- Tap "Make this my texting app", then tap Yes.
Your phone will ask you to confirm. That is normal.
- Tap "Make this my phone app", then tap Yes.
Your messages and number do not change
You keep the same phone number, and all your old text messages are still there.
Lumi Line only changes how they look.
Part 4
For your family member
Give these steps to the son, daughter or friend who is helping you. They do this on their own phone.
- Install Lumi from the Google Play Store on your own Android phone.
The same app. Do not make it your home screen.
- Open it and go to Settings.
- Tap Caregiver settings.
- Type in the 6 digit code from Part 1.
- You are connected.
You can now see medications, reminders, blocked scam calls, and SOS alerts.
